Beauty To Go

Sometimes, I love spending hours and hours experimenting with my beauty looks. This week, that has not been the case. So, I look to super easy products that I can slap on but still look polished. I've been relying on three things: First, Eyeko Me and My Shadow Stick in Taupe. This stick is matte, creamy and blendable, but once it sets it's on the eyes for the day which I love. I've been using this all over the lid, and then putting Jouer Creme Eyeshadow Crayon in Baroque (a soft bronzey color) in my crease. I blend them together with my fingers, and I'm good to go. No brushes, no problem. Finally, I finish off with a thin line of Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner. This stuff has a great thin point that is perfect for getting a super thin line right by the lashline. It makes my lashes look mega thick, and because I'm inept at cat eyes, that's about as creative as I get with my liquid liner. This takes me less than two minutes, but somehow looks really polished and perfect for work. Easy peasy.

The Bold Lip For The Nude Lip Lover

If you've been around these parts for any length of time, you'll know I am a neutral girl at heart. I very rarely do anything bold, which is in part because I have a job that doesn't permit lipstick touch-ups, and partly because I'm just not very bold. But, when I received the Mally Beauty High-Shine Liquid Lipstick Pen in Petal to The Metal, I thought I'd give it a go. It's a bright pink with a hint of a berry tone to it, which means it's bold enough to be bold, but not bold enough to scare me. ;) I've been wearing it anytime I need to jazz up my look a little, and I've gotten quite a few compliments on it (which to me means it's working!). This formula is a mix between a lip gloss and liquid lipstick, and stays put for quite a few hours without feeling too sticky or going patchy. It doesn't leave any kind of stain, which I like because my lips stain strangely and I always end up looking like I have some weird kind of lip disease... not cute. All in all, I've been loving this lip color lately and am definitely looking to try more Mally products!

Friday Favorites

Welcome to Friday Favorites, where I round up my favorite posts, products, pictures and more!

1) The first thing I have to mention is an amazing book I finished this week. It's called Into The Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes. You can read the full Amazon summary here, but to sum it up it is about a girl who meets a charming man...who isn't at all what he seems. It's a really fascinating thriller that takes you into the mind of a woman who has been abused and as a result has OCD. It's part thriller, part mystery(ish), part romance and totally good. If you're into reading, I would totally recommend it, especially since they are making it into a movie!

2) My favorite music from the week has been a bit of a suprise. Leighton Meester (Blair from Gossip Girl) came out with her album recently, and it wasn't at all what I expected. It's very singer/songwriter and folksy, but it's a really good album to listen to while I'm just chilling out. It's on Spotify, so you can check it out there if you're into chill music!

3) I've also been doing a fair bit of beauty shopping recently, so keep an eye out for lots of new product posts. I've been having fun testing out the new holiday sets, and I'm thinking of making a haul/mini review video with my thoughts on each product, so look for that in the coming weeks!

4) I saw this picture on Pinterest and couldn't stop laughing! I think this is so true, and I binge watch shows on Netflix all the time. If you want my recommendations, I would check out Arrow, Revenge Scandal, One Tree Hill, and Gilmore Girls. :)

Have a great weekend!

Benefit Rockateur

I recently picked up the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O' Blushes (longest name ever), and fell in love with the blush I thought I would love the least. After trying out all the blushes in the palette, I find myself coming back again and again for one: Rockateur. I've swatched this blush a million times in Ulta and Sephora, and for some reason I was never overly impressed. It's a rosey hued blush with a tiny (tiny!) hint of golden shimmer that doesn't make me look like a disco ball, it simply adds a bit of glow and makes it look like I've slept way more than I have. While it didn't swatch the best for me, I find that on the cheeks it's the perfect blush for Fall/Winter because it livens up the cheeks while still keeping in the rosey/berry tones I reach for during the colder seasons. Overall, I am extremely impressed and can easily see myself using this blush up!

The Hair Disaster.

This weekend I made a mistake. I decided to use a Groupon and stray from my trusted stylist of 6+ years. You see, my current stylist was booked through December, and I needed a haircut asap. I checked Groupon and found a deal for a haircut + balayage for a great price, from a salon with great reviews. It was a win, win, right? Wrong. I asked the stylist for this:Future possibility. 50 Fall Haircuts to Copy Right Now | Daily Makeover

and she gave me this:

Sooo, NOT what I asked for. I didn't even have a chance to tell her I didn't like the color because I didn't see it until after I had left. She cut my hair facing away from the mirror, and I didn't even think anything was odd about it until I got in the car and realized that my hair was a streaky orangey blond mess. Thankfully, Morgan helped me box dye my hair twice to get it back to some semblance of my normal color, and even then it's still red tinged. I'm not entirely sure what the point of this post is, other than to share my experiences and let you all know that I learned my lesson. I will not be straying from my regular hair stylist from now on! Have you had any disastrous hair experiences? This is my first, and hopefully my last.

Friday Four

Welcome to Friday Four, where I round up my four favorite posts, pictures, products, and more!

1) First of all, let's just talk about Taylor Swift's new album 1989. Got it on Monday night, haven't stopped listening to it since. 80's inspired pop goodness, with her signature sass. I'm all about it.

2) I've recently discovered a boldish lip that I've been loving. It's Mally's High-Shine Liquid Lipstick in Petal to the Metal, and the full post is here. It's been all I've been wanting to wear, which is impressive given I'm normally a strict MLBB girl.

3) I've been doing a fair bit of beauty shopping lately...anyone want to see a haul? I've had some amazing coupon codes for Ulta and Sephora, so I went a little overboard...but the Christmas sets are so great! Any products you want to see reviewed?

4) Emily from Cupcake and Cashmere wrote a post on "Blogging Burnout" here that was seriously good to read. More than that, people in the comments are giving awesome tips on how to avoid blogger burnout. I've been feeling like my blog is in a slump lately, and her post has given me great ideas on how to beat that feeling and get back to loving what I'm doing on Love Like Leave. If you're a blogger and have experienced burnout, I'd love to know how you got over it!

Have an awesome weekend!

Covergirl Clean Glow Blush

I'll admit that of all the drugstore brands I've used, CoverGirl isn't my favorite. While I love the 3-in-1 foundation, I find I'm generally disappointed in their products, or simply uninterested in the new products they bring out. This blush is the exception. It's the CoverGirl Clean Glow Blush in Peaches, and despite being dubbed "glowy" it is completely matte. It somehow manages to brighten up my complexion without adding a hint of shimmer, which is perfect for the days I've got blemishes on my face that I don't want to highlight with shimmer. It's also super affordable. I've got my eye on the shade Roses next, as it seems perfect for fall. Are there any CoverGirl products that you love?

Friday Four

Welcome to Friday Four, where I round up my four favorite posts, products, pictures, and more!

1) Monday was my first day back at work, and even though I didn't work until noon I still ended up running super late. I put on an all black outfit (except for the grey and white scarf) and was a little unsure of it...but ended up getting a ton of compliments (which doesn't usually happen). I am now all about the monochromatic look ;)

2) I put up a post about my super simple eye look, which is only three products and is super easy to travel with. You can find the full post here, but the basic summary is: I'm lazy, this look is easy, but it doesn't look like it was as simple as it really is. A winner in my books!

3) This week I also put up my first Get Ready With Me video, which is a little chatty and pretty much just talks you through how I do my makeup (including how to cover acne). If you're interested, you can find it here!

4) Karima McKimmie recently put up a video with a dramatic eye look using only drugstore products. She used really interesting tulip eyeshadow placement, and I'm thinking about trying it out sometime for a night out. It's really different than anything I've ever seen before, and I love that she's using drugstore makeup. If you want to see it, you can watch it here!

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

Friday Four #3

Welcome to Friday Four, where I round up my four favorite posts, products, pictures, and more!

1) I'm in the middle of a 5 day "vacation" so to speak. I've been catching up with lots of friends, sleeping a ton, and eating lots of pizza. Morgan and I went to a corn maze/apple orchard yesterday and had the best time! We have an Autumn Adventure Plan (which is a fancy name for Fall Bucket List!) and on it is "Get lost in a corn maze." I am happy to report that we definitely got lost, but we made it through all 3 mazes and had an awesome time.

2. Lately, I've been making lots of Mix and Match Mama's 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins, recipe here...Seriously the easiest recipe ever and I always get complimented on my baking skills when I make these...score! Pretty much everything Shay makes is amazing, I'm a little bit obsessed. I've made at least 30 of her recipes and have never been disappointed with any of them. Definitely a food blog to check out!

3. I'm finally getting through the beginning stages of retin-a (again) and am loving having normal skin again. My retin-a videos are my most popular, so if you're interested you can find the playlist here. I've also got 6 month before/after pictures on my recent post here if you're interested.

4. I have a friend who works at Sephora that gave me a Friends and Family discount of 20%, so now I'm formulating a list of products I need to buy. Anyone have any recommendations? I've got my eyes on the Ambient Lighting Blush Palette by Hourglass, and possibly a new perfume. If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments or tweet me @lovelikeleave. Hope you have an awesome weekend!
