Chemical Exfoliants

Today's post is something I've been meaning to do for awhile now. As I've recently started using Retin-A, my skin has been quite dry and flaky, meaning I've needed to bump up the exfoliating products I use. While I used to be fiercely loyal to St. Ives Apricot Scrub (cringe), I've moved on to using chemical exfoliants as I feel they're more gentle on my skin and perform better.

First up is a product that is seriously pricey but worth every penny, Kate Somerville ExfoliKate. This is a combo of manual and chemical exfoliants, and you are instructed to apply the scrub to your face, massage and then leave for up to 2 minutes. I find that my skin tingles quite a bit when I use this, so if you're seriously sensitive skinned this is maybe not the product for you. However I find that the combination of chemical and manual exfoliants really leave my skin baby soft and smooth.

Next is a mask that I'm sure you're all sick of me talking about. It's the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask, and I did a full review of it here. The short version is that this mask is one of my holy grails, and uses a combination of fruit acids to exfoliate the skin and leaves it glowing and bright.

Third is the most gentle (and affordable) option, First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. I use these morning and night to aid in exfoliation. If I wasn't on a retinol, this would probably be the only product I use, as it is gentle but effective when used daily. If you're new to chemical exfoliants, this is definitely one to check out.

Finally comes the Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel, which I've done a full review of here. This is the exfoliant I reach for most often, as it's a bit more affordable than the ExfoliKate. This is a gel you apply to clean dry skin and massage it in. As you massage, it literally peels your skin off which sounds a bit dodgy but is totally amazing. This leaves my skin so soft and it stays soft for the longest when I use this product.

That's it for me, four products that have been totally saving my skin lately. Any other products you think I should check out?
