Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a little obsessed with cleansing balms and oils. I think they clean more effectively than a foaming cleanser, and they are more gentle on my acne-prone, sensitive skin. So when I had the option to add this cleansing oil to my Julep Maven box for $8, I immediately added it to my order. However, after trying this product I can't say I was wowed. It also made me break out when I did a double cleanse using just this and nothing after.

Here's the thing: it removed my base makeup pretty well, but barely touched my eye makeup...and I don't wear waterproof mascara. It smells nice, but I also had to use a lot of product to get it to be effective. It doesn't contain mineral oil or any other nasties that cleansing oils sometimes contain...but it also retails for $28, which I think is ridiculous for the 3.5 fl. oz of so-so product. It's not a terrible product, and I'm sure I'll use it up...I just don't think I would repurchase. Not even for a measly $8. If you're looking for a product that will cleanse gently and thoroughly, may I recommend the Boots Botanics Cleansing Balm, or the Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm? Both are inexpensive and effective, which I just can't say for this product.

Have any of you tried this product? What were your thoughts?
