Friday Four

Welcome to Friday Four, where I round up my four favorite posts, pictures, products, and more!

1) First of all, let's just talk about Taylor Swift's new album 1989. Got it on Monday night, haven't stopped listening to it since. 80's inspired pop goodness, with her signature sass. I'm all about it.

2) I've recently discovered a boldish lip that I've been loving. It's Mally's High-Shine Liquid Lipstick in Petal to the Metal, and the full post is here. It's been all I've been wanting to wear, which is impressive given I'm normally a strict MLBB girl.

3) I've been doing a fair bit of beauty shopping lately...anyone want to see a haul? I've had some amazing coupon codes for Ulta and Sephora, so I went a little overboard...but the Christmas sets are so great! Any products you want to see reviewed?

4) Emily from Cupcake and Cashmere wrote a post on "Blogging Burnout" here that was seriously good to read. More than that, people in the comments are giving awesome tips on how to avoid blogger burnout. I've been feeling like my blog is in a slump lately, and her post has given me great ideas on how to beat that feeling and get back to loving what I'm doing on Love Like Leave. If you're a blogger and have experienced burnout, I'd love to know how you got over it!

Have an awesome weekend!

Covergirl Clean Glow Blush

I'll admit that of all the drugstore brands I've used, CoverGirl isn't my favorite. While I love the 3-in-1 foundation, I find I'm generally disappointed in their products, or simply uninterested in the new products they bring out. This blush is the exception. It's the CoverGirl Clean Glow Blush in Peaches, and despite being dubbed "glowy" it is completely matte. It somehow manages to brighten up my complexion without adding a hint of shimmer, which is perfect for the days I've got blemishes on my face that I don't want to highlight with shimmer. It's also super affordable. I've got my eye on the shade Roses next, as it seems perfect for fall. Are there any CoverGirl products that you love?

Friday Four

Welcome to Friday Four, where I round up my four favorite posts, products, pictures, and more!

1) Monday was my first day back at work, and even though I didn't work until noon I still ended up running super late. I put on an all black outfit (except for the grey and white scarf) and was a little unsure of it...but ended up getting a ton of compliments (which doesn't usually happen). I am now all about the monochromatic look ;)

2) I put up a post about my super simple eye look, which is only three products and is super easy to travel with. You can find the full post here, but the basic summary is: I'm lazy, this look is easy, but it doesn't look like it was as simple as it really is. A winner in my books!

3) This week I also put up my first Get Ready With Me video, which is a little chatty and pretty much just talks you through how I do my makeup (including how to cover acne). If you're interested, you can find it here!

4) Karima McKimmie recently put up a video with a dramatic eye look using only drugstore products. She used really interesting tulip eyeshadow placement, and I'm thinking about trying it out sometime for a night out. It's really different than anything I've ever seen before, and I love that she's using drugstore makeup. If you want to see it, you can watch it here!

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

Friday Four #3

Welcome to Friday Four, where I round up my four favorite posts, products, pictures, and more!

1) I'm in the middle of a 5 day "vacation" so to speak. I've been catching up with lots of friends, sleeping a ton, and eating lots of pizza. Morgan and I went to a corn maze/apple orchard yesterday and had the best time! We have an Autumn Adventure Plan (which is a fancy name for Fall Bucket List!) and on it is "Get lost in a corn maze." I am happy to report that we definitely got lost, but we made it through all 3 mazes and had an awesome time.

2. Lately, I've been making lots of Mix and Match Mama's 3 Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins, recipe here...Seriously the easiest recipe ever and I always get complimented on my baking skills when I make these...score! Pretty much everything Shay makes is amazing, I'm a little bit obsessed. I've made at least 30 of her recipes and have never been disappointed with any of them. Definitely a food blog to check out!

3. I'm finally getting through the beginning stages of retin-a (again) and am loving having normal skin again. My retin-a videos are my most popular, so if you're interested you can find the playlist here. I've also got 6 month before/after pictures on my recent post here if you're interested.

4. I have a friend who works at Sephora that gave me a Friends and Family discount of 20%, so now I'm formulating a list of products I need to buy. Anyone have any recommendations? I've got my eyes on the Ambient Lighting Blush Palette by Hourglass, and possibly a new perfume. If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments or tweet me @lovelikeleave. Hope you have an awesome weekend!

Forever Repurchased: Freeman's Charcoal & Black Sugar Polishing Mask

Today, I'm talking about one of my all-time favorite budget buys, the Freeman's Charcoal & Black Sugar Polishing Mask. This mask has seen me through thick and thin, and never fails to leave my skin in better condition. It's quite a thick mask, with sugar suspended in an active charcoal base that also contains glycerin to hydrate the skin. The packaging suggests to add the mask to wet skin and leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse off. I do things a little backwards though, as I like to apply the scrub to my skin and massage it in until all the sugar dissolves, then leave on for 10 minutes or so and rinse off. I find that this mask is great in the shower, because it really helps to soften and purify the skin while removing any flakiness I may have. This mask was invaluable when I was going through the beginning stages on Retin-a, and I always always always have a backup of this on hand. Another bonus is that is costs around $4, and is usually on buy one get one free/buy one get one 50% off at Ulta, so it is majorly affordable. Do you have a product you can't be without?

Retin-A Before/After Pictures

If you've seen my YouTube videos, you will know that I've been on Tretinoin .05% for about 6 months now. I've done a few update videos (you can see the playlist here), and I said in my last video that I would show before/after pictures around six months. Here they are! As you can tell, the Tretinoin has been amazing for my skin. My skin is by no means perfect now, and I definitely still have a long way to go, but I feel like the Tretinoin has made a massive difference on my skin. I've also been using a few other scar-fighting products in combination with Tretionoin, so watch for a video on that soon. Enough talking, on to the pictures!

I'm pretty nervous about putting my bare face on the internet, especially the before pictures. But when I was trying retinol the first time around, I remember feeling frustrated because there weren't any solid before/after pictures, just people saying their skin has improved. Let me know if you've tried tretinoin, and what your experiences with it are!

Budget Buy #3 NYC IndividualEyes

I'll admit, I used to really dislike the NYC Shadows. I thought they were chalky, poorly pigmented, and just not worth the few dollars you pay for them. However, they were reformulated, and after I saw them featured on Beauty Broadcast, I couldn't resist them any longer and I am so glad I tried them again! This palette is in the shade Best of Broadway, and it is perfect for everyday but can be easily transitioned into a really lovely nightime smokey look. The four shades are all shimmery, but not glittery in the least. It also comes with a flesh-colored eye primer and a shimmery white highlight, and I've found both of them to be fantastic. I love this palette because it has everything you need to create multiple eye looks, and costs around $5. Do you have a favorite budget eye palette?

Friday Four #2

Welcome to Friday Four, where I roundup my four favorite posts, products, pictures, and more!

1) I graduated college this week, so I'm massively happy to be done! I went to school online, so I don't have any bittersweet feelings about leaving my friends, as none of my friends are from college. I'm so so so excited to have more time to blog, sleep, binge watch tv, and hang out with friends!

2) My favorite product this week has definitely been honey, which I did a post about here! It's been seriously saving my skin, and isn't as messy as I thought it would be!

3) About a year ago, I read this post ranking all of the love interests in the Mary Kate and Ashley movies. I don't know about you, but those used to be some of my favorite movies ever, and the article is super funny to read! It came up on my timehop a few days ago and I knew I had to share it with you! Let me know what your favorite MK+A movie was when you were younger,,,I loved Getting There!

4) My favorite music from this week is definitely Tove Lo's album Queen of The Clouds. It's seriously been on repeat for the past two weeks, especially the song Timebomb. It's definitely got sa couple explicit songs in there, so if you don't like that then I would skip those songs...but if you love slightly electronic/alt/pop music (think Banks only slightly more pop) than you should definitely check it out! My roommate, who normally only enjoys the most upbeat Top 40 songs, loves it as well.

What have been your favorites for this week? Hope you have a great weekend!

Raw Honey

I've recently discovered the wonders of raw honey. After hearing about it a ton the past year or so, I finally decided to try it in desperation after my skin was extremely dry and sensitive due to it getting used to Tretinoin. I hesitated to try it because it's just so darn sticky I wasn't sure if it was worth the hassle. But, I've been using it twice a week for about a month now, and can totally tell a difference in my skin so I would say it's definitely worth it! I take the honey and apply a thin layer to my face, and let it sit for about 20 minutes. My main worry was that this would be hard to wash off- but it rinses right off without scrubbing or effort! After using it, I find my skin is softer, and I've been getting less breakouts as well. Next on my list is to try honey mixed with coconut oil as a hair mask, so I will let you know how it goes! Do you have any favorite ways to use raw honey?

Budget Buy #2 Flower Cream Blush

I know we're coming into fall, and for some people that means making the switch to powder blush after a summer filled with dewy cheeks. But personally, my skin starts looking dull in the Fall/Winter seasons, so I reach for my cream blushers more than I would in the summer when my skin can get oily. I've not tried very many things from the Flower line at Walmart, but I picked up the Flower Win Some Rouge Some Creme Blush in Pure Petunia on a whim a couple months ago, and was pleasantly surprised by it! This is definitely a cream-to-powder formulation, but the powder doesn't sit on top of the skin weird or look cakey like some cream-to-powder blushes can. In addition, this stuff seriously stays put on my cheeks...so if I'm going to be busy all day and then go somewhere at night, I layer this under whatever blush I'm using to give it extra staying powder. For $7, it's inexpensive, well-pigmented, and totally worth a try! Do you have a favorite cream blush?

Friday Four

Welcome to Friday Four, where I roundup my four favorite posts, products, pictures, and more.

1. Favorite Products: This week has been pretty hectic for me as I'm graduating college in a week (!!!), so I've been relying on simple makeup to get me through. I've mentioned four of my favorites here.

2. Favorite Picture: I saw this on Pinterest the other day and it really struck a chord with me. I think it is easy to get caught up in my own problems and think that my life is really difficult because I have three thousand things on my plate right now. It's easy to complain about all the tests I have because I'm graduating college. But then I step back and realize that I'm going to college. There are millions of women in the world who don't get the chance to get an education, and I'm in college. I've been really seeing the importance of being grateful for my circumstances.

3. Favorite Funny: This video is only 6 seconds long... But I can honestly say I laughed out loud and re-watched this at least 10 times. I'm not sure what is funnier...his scream, or the look he gave at the end. Either way, I think it's absolutely hilarious and definitely worth a watch...

4. Favorite Post: Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup recently posted her list of Top 10 Beauty Blogs. I somehow missed this post when it originally came out, but I've since been reading all of her recommendations and really loving the new blogs I've discovered. If you're interested in checking it out, you can find her post here.

That's all for this Friday! Have a great weekend!

My New Nudes

Lately, I've been on a quest to find the perfect nude for my skin. Instead of finding one, I've found two: a beigey nude and a pale pink nude. The beige nude is Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight. I had to go on a bit of a hunt to find this one because it was sold out in all of the Targets, but I finally got my hands on it and I'm in love. The perfect swipe and go shade, it goes with any makeup I'm wearing without making my lips look dead. For a peachy-pink option. I've been constantly reaching for the NYX Butter Lipstick in Fun Size. The formulation of these are great, as they are hydrating and creamy, while still lasting a decent amount of time.

What are your favorite nude lipsticks?
